As one falls another rises,

Seeking fortune, honor, and glory,

to be remembered,

in the halls of their fathers.

What is A Guard's Tale?

It's a solo roleplaying game with freedom to shape the player's experience!
(You can create a character and begin a full adventure in less than 2 minutes!)

This 24 page zine puts the player in control while keeping the stakes high! It is a quick and lethal dance with the dice. The player advances from zero to hero one quest at a time. This is not a sprawling aimless sandbox of adventure. (I do enjoy those) This is one deadly encounter after another. A Guard’s Tale uses an original and customizable system to create adventures in no time!

Leave the complicated stuff behind, with A Guard's Tale, you just play it!

A Guard's Tale Features

- Custom quest generator

- Player choice on every quest

- Powerful treasures

- Deadly Bosses

- Skills and Magic to unlock

- Job classes to develop your play style

- A no-nonsense character sheet!

You made a cool game and I like it. I really like the disadvantaged actions. They add a lot of choice as well as risk and reward. The different ways to advance my character are mostly interesting. Adding +1 to STR is good, fine and nice if not exciting. I do wish the job options were a bit sexier. Maybe every 5 EXP I can choose a bob level which gives +1 to a stat and a choice from two or three abilities. Getting something is fine. Getting something at the cost of something else is exciting.

(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! I am still tuning the system and appreciate the time you took to play it!
